A Collaborative Project on SIMCALC Graphical Calculator

Dunman Secondary is proud to be invited to participate in the joint SIMCALC Graphical Calculator project between NIE Learning Science Lab (LSL), Mathematics Education Research Group of University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Texas Instruments (TI).

In Dunman Secondary, we are piloting this project with our Sec 4 Normal Academic. Tapping into the strong manipulating tools of the SimCalc Mathworlds, students will be given a chance to use the TI calculator to create different types of travel graphs and from there, VISUALIZE (from the motion graphics) and INTERPRET correctly how the difference in the graphs would affect motion.

By bringing your Graph lessons to life, students are given an opportunity to explore and personalize core concepts through analyzing the mathematics of motion. In future, they will thus be able to PREDICT the motion of a particle in the graph with ease.
