Applied Graded Subject in Creative 3D Animation

In line with MOE's initiative to provide a flexible curriculum and more choice to our pupils, the school is partnering the Temasek Polytechnic in the offer of Applied Graded Subject (AGS) in Creative 3D Animation.  The reasons for offering proposed AGS are to:

*     develop and build students' capabilities in creating 3D digital media through computer animation production;
*     provide students with the option of taking a subject in the multi-disciplinary field of 3D animation; and
*    support the endeavour to promote creativity and innovation through a niche curriculum.

In preparation for the AGS, 5 teachers are currently undergoing training at the Temasek Polytechnic.  They have completed two modules of training held during the Nov 06 and Mar 07 holidays.  Another one week's training has been scheduled during the Jun 07 holiday.

On the right is an one-minute sample animation done by the teachers during their training last year.

The school, with the support of the E3 cluster, has also set up an Animation Lab.  High end workstations and software have been procured forus to start the course in 2008.

To cater to the interest of many pupils who have expressed keeness in offering the subject, the school will be conducting a series of short courses in 3D Animation in term 3 this year, partially to meet their interest but more to expose as many pupils with the fundamental knowledge and technical capability to create a 3D animation production.
